Punjabi poet Gurbhajan Gill released a new book titled "Akhar Akhar," which consists of approximately 900 "ghazals" that he has written over the course of fifty years and published across eight volumes.

The book launch took place in Phagwara on Wednesday, organized by Sangeet Darpan magazine, Punjabi Kala, Sahit Kendar Phagwara, and Punjabi Lok Virasat Academy Ludhiana. During the event, Gurbhajan Gill, who turned 70 in May, explained that he had meticulously compiled all the verses he had penned between 1973 and 2023, spanning eight ghazal volumes.

The book spans 472 pages with a two-column layout to maintain reader-friendliness and avoid a daunting appearance. Gurbhajan Gill, a renowned poet with a collection of over two dozen books, believes in peaceful Indo-Pak relations and the vital role of poets in expressing societal sentiments.

Gill urged writers to promote a culture of words inspired by Hindi poet Dushyant Kumar, showcasing the power of concise expression.

At the gathering, Professor Jaswant Singh Gandam praised Gurbhajan Gill's ghazals for their simple language, brevity, and deep meaning. He emphasized that profound ideas can be expressed through uncomplicated words.

Gill paid tribute to influential poets Bashir Badar, Nida Fazli, and Surjit Patar, while also commemorating Jagtar, Harbhajan Hundal, and Kashmir Qadar's works during the event.
